The Chosen One

Today, in the industrialised world, the cultural heritage of India is prone to decline in the upcoming years. Not more than two hundred years ago, Britishers came to India and reformed the Indian education system. And with the expanse of time, the Vedas became religious texts, wars became epics, the history was discarded as mythology and our ancestors were reduced to mythological characters. Sad to say, even we forgot that we belong to a civilization that has guided the mankind since time immemorial. Whenever we consider a person as a god, we discard the human possibility to attain the perfection that dwells deeper in our souls. We are made to believe their struggles to be miracles and their lives to be predestined. What if we were wrong? What if, our history was corrupted? What if, with the due course of time one of our greatest historical events got misinterpreted? What if, the 'living god' mentioned in that historical event, was as human as you and me? Krishna! A mortal. Takes birth in a prison. Fails to save his parents. Fails to marry his love. Fails to perform the task assigned to him. Fails to stop the war, resulting into the death of millions. Even fails to save his lineage. Still, when the story is retold, becomes worthy of worship. Known to the world as the eighth Vishnu, this very man will be revered as the supreme personality of godhead by the future generations. A commoner would ask, Why?
